Criteria for Child Care Referrals

Specific needs of families are addressed when sending child care referrals. Location is only one component of referrals.

The information used to complete the process is below

  • What address is the search radius around?
  • Ages of the Children needing care
  • Days care is needed
  • Earliest start time required and latest pick up time required
  • Type care they are seeking
  • Does the child have special medical needs?
  • If seeking home child care, do they prefer a home that is totally smoke free, or just no smoking during child care hours?
  • Are they receiving financial help from the state to help pay for child care (CCDF Voucher)?
  • Primary language spoken by the family
  • Is transportation needed?
  • DO they need financial assistance from the provider?

Family's Responsibilities

  • Families decide who they contact
  • Referrals generated are not recommendations. Parents/Guardians must choose the provider best suited for their family's needs.

Why are Provider Updates are so Important?

  • To ensure that we are correctly matching families with child care that specifically meets their child care needs.
  • To help eliminate calls coming to providers from families whose needs they can not meet, days, hours, ages, and rates for example.
  • To provide the state statistical information and updates per our contract.
